Has anyone added a forum to their site? If so can you post links to them. I’m thinking of adding one to my site and I’m looking for some ideas. What’s the best way to do it?

We use vBulletin as forum software and Kayako's SupportSuite as our CRM / Support system running on one of our web servers. We do things backwards. We redirect all www.bluecherry.net (Our servers) to store.bluecherry.net (Volusion servers). So we still keep www.bluecherry.net/forums and www.bluecherry.net/support on our web servers.
However usernames are not shared with the forum or with the SupportSuite software. I found someone who mentioned they created a "Login Share" module for SupportSuite that would interface with Volusion however I could never get a response from the creator. |

I see this is a moderately old post. But this sounds like an idea I'd be interested to implement. Can you explain it in just a little more detail? I don't have "in-house" web servers, so our forum will be on a hosted server. Did you still have to point your DNS to Volusion's servers?
TIA! |

Technically the correct way to do this would have DNS setup for forums.yourstore.com and support.yourstore.com and have both those directed to a hosted providers server.
I'm not sure who runs your DNS now...but you can ask them if they would do this Quote:
