Default Is it possible to offer a free item after they spend X

Actually two questions, has anybody figured out how to offer a free item (not free shipping) when a customer orders $x.xx?

Or

and this is what we really want. Is it possible to offer a free item when an item from category x,y and z have been added to the cart? It would be one from each. Like if we sold DVD players, and they got a dvd player, a dvd movie and cords we would throw in a free stand. Something like that.

One sort of option is to use the coupons. If you set a minimum price, and leave the coupon code blank, the coupon will auto-apply to the order. Now, you can give the coupon a name that's descriptive of what they're getting for free but it will be for reference purposes only - it will not correspond to any actually product codes or skus for inventory purposes. Depending on your systems, you could either have that done during order exports from Volusion to your order management/fulfillment software. The end result would be that the customer would see what they're getting for free automatically in their cart once they met the criteria. It would be on you to deal with the inventory of those free items.

When you say auto apply, you mean if we set it (like you describe) it will just show up when they send say 200. That's actually pretty cool, we may give that a try.

Correct. As long as you do not assign a coupon "code", the coupon will be automatically applied (once any specified criteria are met).

For applicable products, you could also possibly make use of the "OrderFinished Note" on the product page to allow for selection of which free gift they would like, etc like in a custom form. Just an idea.

We do exactly that to give a free $10 Gift Card with an order of $100 or more. Causes some nice repeat business.

Very cool, I'm going to mess with this now.

Divesports, how did you do the gift card, does it do it automatically (as in send the gift card) or do you have to send it to each customer manually?

Do you know if we can get it so only one coupon shows up at a time. I have 'Cannot Be Used With Any Other Coupon 'selected and they still all show up.

Any ideas on how to make them not all show up?
