Almost immediately after opening my new volusion store, my info@domain.com email started getting bogged down with spam!!
I haven't signed up for anything with this email, it is only found on my contact form and the spam isn't coming through the contact form. Anyone else having this issue? |

When we started using Volusion 1.5 years ago, we found that one of the weakest parts is the email system and it's poor/lacking spam filtering.
One of the first things we did was use a third party email provider. I would recommend http://www.mailtrust.com/ , formerly webmail.us , now owned by Rackspace. Rick H. |

I strongly recommend mailtrust BUT hold off for a few weeks. Currently, there is a problem between Volusion and Mailtrust that is causing email losses and delays randomly. The problem is due to some policies set by mailtrust that will prevent the order notifications from reaching you and also be blocked from your email aliases (we use a lot of aliases because of the way it allows us to copy multiple recipients for some communications.)
Currently, the ball is in Mailtrusts court. I'll report back here once they let me know if they are going to fix the problem. Volusion is also aware of the issue and they have spent a lot of time trying to correct a problem that is actually Mailtrusts. I'm hoping that this can be fixed because the Mailtrust system is really great to work with. |

It may have more to do with your "whois" information being used. Make sure it is set to private.

Gmail offers a hosted service that we now use. You'll have to get volusion to point your domains name servers to google's. You then get a separate admin page and can create up to 50 or so emails on that domain, hosted by Gmail. You no longer have to deal with forwarding or having @gmail.com show up anywhere in the message history. I find it to be a very effective mail archiving/search system and its spam filter works well too. Privacy concerns exist, however.

It's Google apps... http://google.com/a
I use it too and like it. Google has great junk mail features. Be aware that it does not work with Volusion's crm however. |

Kershaw,
It has been a challenge but for the moment there is a truce between the mailtrust and volusion servers.. From what I can tell, both sides share in the blame but the reasons for the problems are too odd to bother posting here. V recommended that we switch back to their servers but I don't want to deal with the blacklisting issue. So for now, we will stay put. Does anyone use a mail host with no problems (besides gmail)? |
