Hi,
I have a question. If we take a Paypal payment for an order what happens if the owner of the card comes back a month or so later and says that they didn't authorize the charge. So in other words a Ghana thefts get a credit card and use it to fund a Paypal account and then orders stuff from our site which we ship because Paypal shows it as completed. Then the true owner of the card goes to Paypal and says the card was stolen. Does Paypal charge back to us? We are currently considering a completed Paypal order a non risk order but I am wondering if that is valid. At this time we have a merchant account through Wellsfargo so we only take Paypal payments. They are not our regular provider. I am just wondering if we could get ripped off by fradulent orders through Paypal. Thanks for any thoughts you might have, Teddy |

You will likely lose. Most Paypal transactions that are disputed win, unles it shows seller protection, even then it's iffy.

you will almost certainly lose if you try and defend a chargeback through paypal.
we've had more success defending chargebacks on transactions through our regular gateway. Just an opinion but the best protection offered by any payment provider at the moment is from google checkout. |
