Hi there,
We having trouble importing product updates because our products files have gotten really large as we are up to like 70,000 products. Does anyone have any suggestions how to do large imports? I find that the browser times out or we get error message half way through...at this level of the game CSV files are just too cumbersome. Thanks in advance for your help. Pete Herman |

I have you unchecked the show error codes or whatever it's called on the import page? I've imported up to 19,000 files... it still took like 45 minutes, though.

Just be carefull if it times out. We've had it go for over an hour only to time out at the end and look like everything was uploaded, only to turn out we needed to waste our bandwidth and load it again and again till it was all up.

Most of the stores I've set up have over 70,000 items. Even if I'm only updating one database field, I've got to split the files into a minimum of 8 chunks. If I'm updating more than one DB field, I have to split into as many as 16-32 chunks.
Time consuming, to be sure; but if you want to make absolutely certain that all your data imports properly, it's worth the time. Lastly, as previously noted, make sure to turn off all debugging features when importing more than 500 records. |

Maybe volusion should begin supporting some sort of FTP uploading of the product sheets.
