Okay, so I have t-shirts, they come in black, white, red, or blue. They come in sizes small, medium, large, etc.
But also in my options, I have shipping confirmations: Send to myself at the billing address. Send to the shipping address which is different from billing. etc. So now on my inventory control grid, I have child inventory one for each color and size (as it should be) but also I have added ones because of the shipping options. It isn't necessary and is redundant to have the shipping options broken out there. Is there a way to exclude those on the inventory control grid? They are actually radio buttons and "dropdown smartmatch" is not chosen on those options, so I wouldn't think they would be included, but they are. |

I found the same issue and have not figured out away around it. This would be a great enhancement..I have added it to my own internal list I've started.

Has anyone else seen this problem and solved it?

It sounds like you are trying to get one smartmatch table to do two different things for you. I don't see how you can get the smartmatch feature to just work with the color and size option and not the shipping option.

We have the same issue and emailed tech suppport. At the moment Volusion software doesn't support exclusions, all options will be part of Inventory Grid.
You can go back after creating of inventory grid and add additional options, they will show on front page, but not on admin. Hopefully Volusion will consider making a change to the code ... |

Do you need shipping confirmations on specific products that make up an order?
ex. An order comprised of 2 products may have one shipping confirmation go to shipping address and the other products shipping confirmation go to the billing address. Or do you offer shipping confirmations only on some of the products you sell? If the answer is no to both I would considered the shipping confirmation to be applied to the entire order. What about the Custom Order Fields... We have a question that is applied to all orders, regardless of product, so we use a Custom Order Field found in Admin/Settings/Custom Fields. We use it to ask what charity the customer wants part of their order to go to, but you could easily say "Where do you want your shipping confirmation delivered" It shows up above the Shipping Method when the customer is checking out. It also is recorded as part of the order and shows up in the order administration interface.

We are a military support group, the customers can have items sent to themselves, or to a specific soldier, or to "any" soldier.
Customers were perpetually confused though and often would not change the "ship to" to the soldier address or put the name "any soldier" in there. This caused countless hours every day fielding e-mails and calls trying to figure out where they really wanted these orders shipped. And in a lot of cases we shipped to the "ship to" address and then we'd find out they wanted it sent somewhere else, so that increased the amount of returns, expense, etc. Some of the products will only be sent to soldiers, but many products people can get for themselves. We added product options: ___ Ship to me at the billing address ___ Ship to an address different from the billing address ___ Ship to Any Soldier ___ Ship to a Specific Soldier I have an address for Text box - confirm shipping address "Type in the name & address you wish to ship this to, when different from the billing address." We do still get a lot of people who do not change the ship to field and when they get their order confirmation and see that, they contact us thinking we will ship to them, when they have confirmed the soldier address in the product option section. But this has improved the problem a lot. It is just annoying that these options are included in the inventory control. |

You should be able to delete the combos you don't want after they are created.

I want the people pulling orders and shipping them to be able to see this information on the order. If I remove some of the option combinations, then this won't be possible. And I can't keep an accurate inventory either?
If I have 100 black shirts in Medium, but I have 3 different child products for black/medium because of the extraneous shipping options, then inventory isn't going to be tracked right, if I put the number 100 in 3 times on 3 child products, that makes it look like I have 300 in stock. |
