Default How to get rid of abandoned carts

Ok, so I know I read a thread about this before. I found a way to make them disappear (not make them not happen, mind you).

In the list of abandoned carts, click on one. Then click on the bring this cart to PHONE ORDER PAGE button. Then empty the cart.

Go back to the list of abandoned carts, and VOILA... that cart is GONE!

I'm not sure why you would want to do this. If you do this to a real customer that is browsing your store you just emptied their cart and they won't know why.

Why would you delete abandoned carts you ask????

How about getting accurate statisics from this area by removing robot created carts????

According to Tech Support the abandoned carts are automatically deleted after about 30 days. This appears to be mostly true as out of 450 current abandoned carts I only have 6 older than 30 days with the oldest being 63 days. It may be possible that these customers have re-visited within the 30 days and started the clock ticking again.

Yes, there was a period of time before I blocked the robots from the shopping cart page.. so I had quite a few abandoned carts.... one for each product in my store!

Also, I have it set to capture customer info (phone # & email) on the carts.

How much time do you have? I have tens of thousands of abandoned carts.

Not worth if for us to scrub them out individually.

Default Start using the IP Firewall

Use the IP Firewall to reduce the number of robot crawlers that are ignoring you disallow carts statement.

You are going to have ONE BIG bandwidth overage bill!

This is an argument that a lot of people make and I don't agree.

Do we pay overages? Yes.
Has organic traffic to our site doubled over the past year? Yes.
Do the additional sales from organic traffic justify the overage cost. Absolutely!

I love Googlebot and Yahoo Slup! They can spend as much time as they want on my site and I'll gladly pay the nominal Volusion overage for it.

Default abandoned carts

hi guys - i'm getting like 2,000 abandoned carts per month and only like 30 to 40 orders. do i have a lot of bots trolling my site and creating carts? how can i improve the abandonment rate because if this is legit traffic, i'm missing out on some big $$, no?

i just offered free shipping on everything to see if shipping was causing problems. if someone could check out my site i'd appreciate it.

thanks,

mike
