Default Visits & Pageviews Nosedived Yesterday

I know yesterday Volusion was, once again, having Rackspace issues and some sites (including ours) were down temporarily. But I looked at our "stats" in the Control Panel and found that our visits and pageviews dropped by almost 70% yesterday. Our numbers are very consistant if you view a daily chart over several months. These numbers were about 56% lower than the lowest day in the past 4 months. We are still getting orders, but it has slowed dramatically. I only have small theories as to why this has happened:

1.) Something odd is going on with Google/the Internet
2.) The repeated days of stock market tanking and high gas prices are slowly killing all commerce.
3.) The Rackspace downtime was greater than I expected (not likely, as I am in the admin center all day every day, and didn't notice it unitl late)

I don't know. This really puzzles me.

I think it's more of the gas issue, since that is what people have to face everyday. The stock market declines really don't affect your pocket book unless you need those stock funds for an emergency or something. But it may have a psychological effect on people.

The gas issue may force some people to buy more online, rather than hopping into the car and going down to the mall and using up the $4+ gas. But higher gas costs depletes the bank account, so it's a vicious cycle.

We still have sales everyday but not as much. Checked our rankings last week and this week and they have actually improved fairly nicely since January. So, I just think it's the economic slowdown has everyone in a funk right now.

My two pennies worth....

Wow, I thought it was just me!!! Sorry to be happy but at least now I know I am not alone. I was starting to worry that I was the only one seeing this drop.
My Adwords traffic just nosedived Friday (and Saturday but less so) which is really weird. I think something is going on with Google/Rackspace/Volusion because all of a sudden on Friday I got 30% of my regular clicks and CTR, my Adwords spending also declined which it never has done before, even on slower days in the past I got pretty even Adwords traffic - just fewer conversions. Also my bandwidth, pageviews and visitor counts have dropped a lot Friday to mirror my Adwords traffic.
I don't think it's the economy/gas prices/stock market etc because we have been uneffected by that so far...
So far Saturday has been really slow as well but busier than Friday.
Lets see what Sunday and Monday bring, my 2 busiest days...

There's a thread about similar problems going on. I've not noticed any of the mentioned problems, but I've also noticed a very steep decline in sales and an increase in cart/checkout abandonment over the last week or so.

snapspeed: How did things turn out? Over the past week, activity seems to have all but ceased. I noticed a few more visitors Monday, but something seem amiss.

Let's call it Black Friday because I think it was my worse day ever. Saturday was only a little better and then Sunday back to normal. Monday/Tuesday average so I have no idea what's going on.
It seems slower lately.
My Adwords spending on Friday was less than 1/2 my budget and it's never like that. As I said before I usually get fewer conversions on slower days but the spending stays about the same.

My last 4-5 days in June were the lowest for visitors in a long time. But visitors jumped back up the last couple days starting in July. Then again, I got attacked by spiders or other virtual creatures.
