Default 23% visitors click "Shopping Cart Powered by Volusion" ????

I found it strange, that in my Google analytics, Content Overlay, for the past month, 23% of all visitors clicked on the small link at the very bottom Right of the page. " Shopping Cart powered by Volusion".

What is going on here? is this normal? Anyone else monitor this?
thanks

That seems odd, what is the URL to your site?

Yes, that link has the most clicks on my sites as well. Very strange. Hope Volusion likes all the extra visitors....

Obviously, there cannot be a majority of your website visitors clicking the Volusion link at the bottom of the footers. If that were so, Volusion would be the busiest website in the world and we would have some serious marketing problems.

I am guessing that this is some sort of automatic registering, not real customer clicks. Maybe some of the super-smart Volusion folks here will have an answer.

Would Volusion have a spider that scans all the sites they host and then click from those sites to Volusion? Would this benefit them? Improved search positions, increased bandwidth use? Can't think of any other reasons for doing it.

Perhaps they do have a spider or bot that checks all the sites they host to make sure that we haven't removed the link?

our URL is www.VeryFineBooks.com

I did the same analysis for the past 5 months, and that link is still getting 11% of all clicks..

Seems rather high

Well, if you think about it, it cannot possibly be real visitors clicking that link. I would guess that a busy site (over 10,000 uniques per month) would never see more than one or two customers clicking that link. If you have a lot of clicks on that link, it would almost certainly be a robot of some sort or just a mistake in reporting.

I just looked at my analysis and have only had two clicks on the volusion link in the past 90 days. Oh well.
