Default Iphone & volusion email issues

I cannot get my email account from my volusion store to work on my iphone. i get an error saying the certificate is not valid and then it just hangs forever trying to verify the account settings. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone know a fix? My iphone is a 3G running firmware 2.0.

I have the new iphone 3G and I haven't been able to get the volusion email set-up on the phone and working either. If you have been able to get it working would you let me know exactly how to set it up?? Thank you!!

I believe that this is related to SSL. If you turn off "Use SSL" for incoming messages, I believe that you will no longer receive the error message.

You can do this on your computer in your Outlook, Apple Mail, or other email program and then Sync the mail settings to your iPhone.

Or, on the iPhone you can do this under Incoming Mail Settings (on your iPhone under advanced setting on your Volusion email account).

I think this is a Volusion issue, because I have 5 other email accounts using SSL and working fine on my iPhone.

I am using the iPhone with no problems. I have the original iPhone, but with the new 2.0 software. It should work the same. If you have your Volusion email set up and working on your computer, then you should be able to simply sync those settings to your iphone:

1-Connect your iPhone to your computer
2-In iTunes select your iPhone in the left column
3-Select the tab called INFO at the top
4-Under Mail Account, check Sync selected Mail accounts AND check your Volusion mail account
NOTE: If for some reason this doesn't work the first time, you can also force iTunes (on next sync only) to replace your mail settings on your iPhone. Do steps 1-4 above but also check the Mail Account box under Advanced on the INFO tab.
5-Press Sync in the lower right corner

For reference, the settings show up on my iPhone as follows:
Under Setting > Mail,Contacts,Calenders > your Volusion email account

Account
- set to on

POP Account Information
- self explanatory

Incoming Mail Server
-Host Name: mail.YourDomainName.com
-User Name: youremailname@YourDomainName.com
-Password: self explanatory

Outgoing Mail Server
-enter your Internet Providers Out Going Mail Server (for example, mine is smtp.comcast.net)

Advanced (Incoming Settings)
-Use SSL: off
-Auth: Password
-Delete: Never
-Port: 110

I just got my Iphone for my birthday

if I synch it with my outlook, will messages I send from the phone be uploaded to my outlook for tracking purposes? or atleast that email marked as "replied to" in outlook?

Happy Birthday!

It depends.

If you are using an email system that supports IMAP (and you set it up), then messages on your computer and any other device like the iPhone will always be in sync. Lots of popular email system support IMAP, like GMail, Apple's MobleMe, Yahoo, etc.

If you are using a POP email system, then they will not be in sync. Unfortunately, Volusion is a POP only system.

Note that iTunes does not sync email messages, only email settings, so plugging your iPhone into your computer is not a work around.

THanks!,

I got it figured out well enough, I set it up to only delete emails from the server when removed from the in-box, so I can delete spam/useless emails.

When I reply from my phone, I'll just BCC myself so when I open my outlook I'll have the email and reply. Outlook removes emails from the server at download, so I just have to remember to close outlook if I'm going to be using the phone.

There should be a setting in Outlook to keep messages on the server after Outlook retrieves them. I set my email program (Apple Mail) to keep messages on the server for 1 week after retrieving - so new emails show up on by iPhone as well.

BTW, there is a setting on the iPhone to always automatically BCC yourself.

Still, would be MUCH better is Volusion allowed IMAP.
